A Descent into Sweetness

A Descent into Sweetness

A Poem by Dripping Chocolate Madness
"

This is the story of why I turned into chocolate. Some names have been changed to protect the innocent.

"
I have lived as a monkey in the City of Men.
I prowled shadowlit alleys like a fat old Tom.
Sated myself on rainwater and guttered castings.
Melted on a blacktop skillet,
And dripped through the grates into the greywater.
From there, was I washed out to sea.

I have made residence in the inner workings of a whale.
Gnawed on the bones of Jonah.
Slept in a bubbling cauldron, guarded by a demon most beautiful.
Woken the slumbering princess with a kiss. Long and hard and cruel.
Dissolved into the pages of so many tales, that they dissolved into each other.
Whispered in your hungry ear, all my secret nonsense, and the sweetest nothings.
And gave you my heart to hold and protect.
From there, was I cast out into the void above.

Alone, and finally empty of knowledge...
I was offered a piece of taffy by a small child. And I pondered this small miracle.
And from there, did I find peace, love, happiness, and an overwhelming desire to share these new oddities.
And I cried at the simplicity of it all.
In the end, it was like taking candy from a baby.

It's possible that instead of taking the taffy I may have put more effort into staying with the princess.
Don't know about the whale thingy, would leave that one forJonah or even Ahab
Just saying
All in all, quite an adventure well beyond my energy level
Very entertaiing

A tourist in everyone else's story until you finally found your own.

The simplicity of it all... how true that is, right? Things aren't complicated. It's us who complicate things.

Well, its quite a life lived! Yet something as simple as chocolate dissolves all the complexities of life, just as easily as it dissolves in the mouth. Sometimes simplicity has all the answers we need. A unique write.

You write well, and crazy jumps of similes makes me smile. To be cast out, cats out. Weren’t you the innocent?
