A Poem by Vladimir Jr

Locusting heat harrows crop growth;
Marching-on furnaces farrow soil sloth.
Torrid corridas whelp topsoil salt.
Crop-dusted cornfields
seared to a pesthole.
Livestock stocky cockpits
calve methane stall.

Husqvarnas zip-unzippered timber tips-
hickories zested and steeped-
Zen gardens bulldozered-
resin dearly drips-
zebrawood tabletops
treated to streaking in stores.
Grass cops an unjust coup de grâce.

Songbirds steered back to their nests by an earlier spring.
An oxpecker flees a zebra’s face
snarled in a landfill waste.
Coastal cities send out doves
only to dart ‘bove a branchless case.
Blanched coral reefs reel triggerfish to shores.
Whale shark guts smothered by a plastic bag.

“Overfished, hydrocarbonaceous, leaden, quicksilvered, plastic, overflowed ocean.”

Hahahahahahah!..
Island nations submerged.
Peckerwoods prattle
pecked by narwhals.
Water wars flare up.
Traders sell dirt.

Equatorial regions
desolated by heatwaves
Arid environment specialists laugh
a Nicolas Cage’s laugh.
Endemic heatstrokes pervade-
prolonged hyperthermia-
extreme heat distress.
Kidneys are shutting down-
CNS is failing-
shock delivered-asystole.
Fixed and dilated pupils-
Apneic and pulseless.
Pronounced dead at 12:34.

Megadroughts.
Megastorms.
Deserted lands.
Waterworlds.
Mass displacement.
Xenophobia.
Biodiversity collapse.
Antinatalists lovelily doff their doomy hats.
“Thank you all for joining us...”
