It’s only 5pm and the darkness has rested on a day that is only halfway over. My body is ready for slumber, yet the traffic outside my front door says otherwise. People commuting from the daily grind, jobs, school, holiday shopping, dinner. I’m stuck here. Quarantined. Punishment enforced on an innocent party, yet these are the new rules. The new normal. A new way of life that I hope is only temporary. An introvert’s wet dream, to be in isolation as the rest of the world gets itself into a holiday preparation frenzy. I realize now that I’m only a part time introvert. I’m about to go crazy in the comfort of my own home.
I love hearing from someone who might've considered herself an introvert until now, having to be isolated, bringing out different urges not previously obvious. Whenever we're faced with something tough to take, it's inevitable that we'll grow into some new adaptation of ourselves. I see the generations as becoming progressively more repressed due to overpopulation. In order to contain the masses, more & more people must bow down to the Conformity Gods. Thanks for sharing & for your fresh honesty (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
I was attracted by your title and stayed for the reflections on introversion. Covid has made us all sit up and pay attention to ourselves because it has shone the light a little more on who we are and what makes us tick. I am most definitely an introvert (get my energy from within, unlike extroverts who get their energy from external stimulus. But I'm an IPFP if you look at Myers Briggs (developed from theories of Carl Jung) and the F is for Feeling. My interactions with others are just as important to me as getting my energy from within. I love the interactions on the WritersCafe and also the new friendliness that Covid seems to have brought where strangers out jogging. walking, cycling tend to say hello these days, even sometimes stop for a chat (maybe not the joggers!). I had a conversation with a stranger the other day about the wonder of Creation! Food for my INFP soul!
Thank you for this writing - topical, interesting and thought-provoking

I was just telling my writing group about how wonderful and encouraging the community is here! I’m grateful for you and your review. And since you mentioned it, I’m totally one of those people who sometimes get energy within and sometimes externally. I never know which one I need until I get it (and I never thought about this until now, so thank you!!) I have to do my Myers Briggs again, I think My first two letters are EN, but that was years ago. Thanks so much for your review!!

I like Myers Briggs as a mechanism for understanding myself and how I operate, although some people think it is like reading the horoscope and you will find something in all types that you identify with. I disagree because I am a committed INFP even if I can choose to operate outside of these preferences if needed.
This is an amazing community and I thank you for being part of it!
"An introvert's wet dream" is really funny. There are ambiverts, and then there are those people like me..those strange INFJ's..which are mostly introverts who on occasion are really extroverted also..
but the most important point is that this quarantine is really hard even for the introverts.
Both extroverts and introverts need a certain level of social interaction.
People need people. We always have. We always will.
You are not a bad writer.

Ambivert! Yes. I agree with you 100 percent. Thanks for the review :)
Isolated in your own home. I tried this to get out of Christmas shopping. Sadly she informed the Gestapo, who informed me they had ways of making me shop. Hate that woman. Hope you're out soon.

Christmas shopping is horrifying! I’m out today and back to work. Yay! Thanks for the note :)
Another tale of the pandemic. It's tough to be isolated when others are partying, but they are the ones who are stoking the surge.

I completely understand. I love my alone time and solitude, but it gets old too. I don't think normal people, or anyone for that matter, are designed to be on quarantine. We need people, even though they drive us crazy. Lol
An introverts wet dream...love that :)) psss, had a few of them in my early teen years !
The longest day now applied to many spent in lockdown
.Enjoyed the read ma'am
Merry Christmas
