The Ladder by Alex Cook

I am Death. It is time. I come for thee.

You are scared but should not be.

Your time here is done you see.

You must move on. Come with me.

I know you are afraid but I am not sorry for thee.

I have no reason to be,

For you are on a ladder you see.

In your time here you have been all there is to be.

Every creature on land and in the sea.

All that is left here is the sky for thee.

It is a ladder you see.

Now once again you get to come with me.

There is so much more for you see.

I will take you to the heavens and set you free.

It is a ladder you see.

And when you have been all you can be.

I will take you to the stars and set you free.

Very dark and chilling yet it offers comfort as well.
A splendid poem.

For once, It does not seem so bad to die. I do hope I stay on the ladder long enough. A really good poem.

I love the serene 'Meet Joe Black' final scene", quality to this Alex.
Forgive me, I hope this doesn't offend you Alex for saying but if there were a book of poems meant to be read by terminally ill folks, I think this would belong in such a book.
