ReunionA Chapter by MeggyComment!Dusk walked between the rows of carnations and Dragon Lilies in full bloom in the town’s flower shop Colorful Blooms. Her mind took in the sights of the flowers bringing back memories of the last time she had been here buying roses for the very same occasion on this very same day just fifteen years earlier so she knew exactly which cooler had the roses in it. As she stood in front of the cooler her hand lingering just above the silver handle she looked around. How magical the flower shop could with its romancing couples to those who are in mourning if you ever wanted to see emotions in full spectrum all one had to do was stand in the flower shop. Putting her hand on the handle Dusk finally opened the door to the cooler. The crisp air from the cooler rushed out greeting her with the smell of blooming roses and coldness that seemed to cling to her skin as it past by. Dusk took out two dozen cream colored roses from the cooler and headed to the check out counter where a blonde hair green eyed girl was doing the check out. As Dusk set the roses down on the counter the girl picked them with a cheery smile. “So a special occasion huh?” Dusk nodded her head as she pulled out the money to pay for the roses before handing it over to the girl and taking the roses back. “Yeah…I guess you can say that…” She left the flower shop and started out of town towards the family graveyard just beyond the tree lines. As she walked the memories flooded back to her their last nights and the only thing Dusk wanted to do was drop the roses and run back home but she did owe it to them to at least visit. Lost in her thoughts and inner arguments she hardly noticed the thorns from the roses biting into her hands drawing small traces of blood that ran down their stems. The trees seemed to close to her everything seemed to close for her and just as she was about to turn around and run she reached the iron gate around the private plot of land that her family owned as their own private burial places. Dusk opened the gate and walk in maneuvering between the broken and faded head stones until she reached four stones that seemed newer then the rest even though they were still old and the names were faded out from exposure to the elements but she still knew who laid there. Dusk could not find it easy to believe that those four plots held her two older brothers, her baby sister and their mother and that she was the last living relative from their bloodline but for her own sake she shut down her thinking so she would not remember their last days together. Numbingly she placed the roses eight to a grave leaving one grave bare for reasons few knew and many would only guess at why. She bowed her head to them though her back stayed turned upon the fourth grave in a shunning manner. “Hello my family I am sorry it has been so long…forgive me for what I have done I never meant for it to end this way…” Dusk’s voice cracked even though it was barely above a whisper she turned and started to leave but stopped. Looking back upon the bare grave her sadden emotions hardened to hate as she faced the grave clenching her fists it took all she had not to spit in rage upon the grave as she spoke. “You…my…dear brother I do not ask forgiveness. May you rot in hell for what you done to me I hate you!” She turned and walked away leaving the family plot she did not notice the fact she had blood dropping from her hand onto the grave or did she see the pale hand pulling its way up through the soil to lift the being up from its rest.
