True LoveA Story by William C Jones IIIA young man who is aware that he died but don't know how. The last memory was of a young woman he was very close with. He remembered that smile she gave him. He asks God for a second chance at life... Where do I appear to be At the doors of His majesty All I can remember is being with this woman The smile she gave, adorned with happiness The richest jewelry can't compare to her beauty I wanted to see her again Lord give me a second chance You're the perfect One to give me this test This time I'll ace it I guarantee to pass this The trial of true love There are dangers ahead, when push comes to shove I don't care Because I'll do my share Thank You now, You're the best So I flew soaring above the clouds, glad as can be Hoping to see more than just imagery Riding this journey on majestic wings To prove that I'm worthy I believed she's more deserving Arriving in my body in the hospital bed Catching my breath in short gasps Running from there, searching the land instead Another memory that I could clasp Was of her radiant countenance Which shined through me from her luminescence Holding her in my arms, sniffing the illusive strands of her hair Letting her know that everything's okay Even when life didn't seem to be fair There were times in this quest I went astray Fighting through these demons of my past I've grown so weary... how long will I last Don't plan on making a sacrifice It'll hurt her in the end Then she'll only feel the spirit of my presence again That would not suffice Yes I'm fighting for her I wanted to see her again That point in time, wherever were This is my test I'm sure to win Though the strain of pushing myself harder than ever before In the end, I'll reap the awards Picked one of the hardest roads of the afterlife Nevertheless, I'm planning to make her my wife Broken down, mind confused as if waiting forever The tears rolling down her chilled cheeks She sat down by the streaming river The wind flew by giving a breeze She turned around and saw me coming Couldn't believe her eyes and started running All of a sudden, tripped and fell She was in my arms again so all was well Looked up at me with those precious eyes It took time to realize That she's the one who makes me feel alive I could feel God's smile upon me Yes.... this is better than a memory... © 2013 William C Jones IIIAuthor's Note
