Fatal Love

Fatal Love

A Story by William C Jones III
"

This couple are in the harder stages of love. And it's hard for them to extinguish their love for each other. Can their love ever bloom and produce a rose.... or a thorn. Boy(Truth) Girl(Grace)

"

This all began at one fateful ceremony
Our passion for each other knew no bounds
A sight of you that was plain to see
But your father shielded you from my vision,                               giving me a menacing frown
I didn't know who your name was then
But my heart told me we were meant to be

The next day, we were closer than ever before
I remember you standing there alone,
gazing upon the scope of the horizon
                 My surroundings began to change,
as the beauty of your countenance touched my core
Into the great dark blue skyline,
you watch intently on the moon rising

With my heart jumping nearly out of place, I ask,
                 "Can I have this dance?"
The smile on your face was flawless,
as this told me it was a "yes"
I could have leapt with joy in the moment of my chance
But like a gentleman, I extend my arm,
                  trying to act my best

You hook my arm and we walk down the shoreline
It was the perfect setting for us share our romance
The sand tingling beneath our toes felt so divine
We didn't need music to have a good time
Because my love for you was enough to enhance this dance

This night would be memorable to me as I held your waist
                  I knew day by day,
our fondness of each other would never be put at bay
Hearing the plaintive tone of your voice,
                  made my heart melt
With you, this was a feeling I had never felt
                      Never knew,
lurking in the shadows was a talebearer of deception

Minutes later, our connection was an inception
Didn't realize that there would be interruption
Her father came, storming down the hills of the village
Clouded with fury, I knew his intentions was to kill me
He grabbed his daughter by the hair
And it was too much for me to bear

"Get away from my Grace, she's not like other women!"
He pulled out his sword from his holster,
              challenging me to a battle
I had no choice but to engage with him,
"Lord forgive, for I have sinned!"

Her eyes filled with tears as he slung her to the sand
The sight of that made me freak, for I didn't understand

How was this the love of a father
Weren't they supposed to protect their daughters
As though in answer, our swords clashed with one another
Pouring out feelings from their holders' soul
My love for this girl was so deep,
she's the one who makes me whole
Whoosh! I hear the harsh wind from his swing
As I'm ducking and dodging, with the skills of a pro

I couldn't help but feel the one responsible
Not a bad guy, I'm truly humble
            Without a moment's hesitation,
he faked an attack and parried my blow
I was left wide open, defenseless and cold
He thrust his sword forward to bring me to an end
But my life wasn't to die and conclude with tragedy
Then I realize that Grace jumped in ahead of me
              as she tries to defend

Hopping back, eyes locked with sorrow at his mistake
Sword had met flesh and that would never change
She collapses to the ground, quickly, I rush to her aid
Her face looked pale and was chilled as ice
As she smiles one last time,
the light begins to fade from her eyes
Life didn't make sense so I screamed into the dark skies
Perceiving to what he had done,
the father held the sword to his neck slowly
And he gutted his throat and committed suicide
For his existence, now had no meaning
He was just another man to me , called "Lowly"
I glanced at Grace for one last time

Wiping a descending tear away from her face
The moon shone a glistening silver on hair
She was the most lovely woman I had ever seen in my days
              Bending down, I whispered,
"Is this how our love fades away?"

This poem took me too long to do well in my opinion. I wanted to let people the shade parts of love of what could happen and what shouldn't happen. If I have made any errors I will remedy it with my edit. Hope you all feel the emotion and understand story. Enjoy...

I like your idea, and the passion behind it. Romanticized, nice to read. It could use a little structure, but aside from that it's very nice. I'm glad you friended me, I look forward to reading more of your work.

I love it if you write in short story format, but it is still good in a poem. I enjoy it.
