My Childrens Rooms

My Childrens Rooms

A Chapter by Ursula Kay Vos
"

Waiting for my boys.

"

Days come

Days go

Blending

Burning away

All matter

None significant

Preperations made

Pictures framed

All awaiting a fateful day

Dust is shooed

How dare you enter

This is not your room!

This sacred space

Enshrined for years

Encapsulated in a way

Watching, waiting

Hearing the hustle

Listenting to the bustle

It longs for a childs toe,

The sheets have long awaited

Updated for your growth,

never changed

Never deserted,

Nor forgotten

Always saved

Always maintained

For my boys

I will wait

Make your bed fresh

Every Sunday

Your gifts sit

Waiting for play

There they sit

There they'll stay

Love,

    Mom

As always, if you know the story it is both uplifting and heartbreaking...but just for now, pretend I don't. How does it stand, JUST as a poem? Damn well. You have beautiful imagry in it. A floor, longing for childrens toes will stay with me for a long while. Your phraseology and turn of phrase are perfection, while your pace and beat are simply wonderful. The theme, universal to anyone who longs for a child in their lives. Just as a poem it is still uplifting, and heartbreaking. Stirring emotions and feelings in this grizzled old chest.
