Dear Jai, Love Me

A letter of the heart

Jai,            8/26/2011

        I wish I could tell you,

Or let you know some how.

       I wish there was some way to say this,

without putting myself down.

 

I feel I don't deserve you,

      I feel that you're too good.

A simple girl like me,

     I'm just not sure I could....

 

I fear I'm not enough,

      in oh, so many ways.

I fear that I'll soon bore you,

      in time you wont want to stay.

 

I never want to keep you,

     if I cant make you happy.

I never want to see you sad,

     if my doing is the folly.

 

In the end,

      my fear has always been,

keeping you against your will,

      you don't have to stay at the bar tonight,

I'll let you go, don't hide how you feel.

 

Everything I do,

       It doesn't seem like enough.

For the joy I feel with you,

       Makes life seem not as rough.

 

None of this is my decision,

        It's never been up to me.

I'm not sure whats in your mind,

        But your eyes say it all clearly!

 

Your eyes tell me I'm blessed,

       Or is it something more?

Could it be you're looking at me,

        like you never have before?

 

Transcending depths

        Your gaze peirces my soul

You lightly knock,

         And knock once more

 

I answer in the hope

         Lord, is he the One? 

Hoping I can show you the joy,

         The Love,

You have always shown me,

         Right from the start

 

Slow beginnings

         Cautious steps

As we carefully slice and mold

          Our place in loves eternal depths

Author's Note

The original poem was written on 8/26/2011 & this is 99% that poem, I did make a few minor changes to it to flow one or two of the lines more fluidly within the stanzas and the last two stanzas of the original poem were reworked entirely, as they were much more personal.
