The battles of War

The battles of War

A Poem by Ursula Kay Vos

Can you call a battle

Won over a single small victory?

Even knowing a win of that battle means

the war wages on as through history?

But as a single grain of sand does not make a beach,

So stands to reason,

that a small victory does not signify peace.

Even as there are many beaches,

that fall into a greater sea,

So do many battles won make wars prevail in victory.

But as you look into the great expanse of blue,

From one beach

on many grains of sand

does it ever remind you?

As with the sands of the beach

to  vast and far reaching

So are the battles of our lives

All here for our teaching

Never truly done

All are never truly won

That is until

The day

We stop breathing

On that day

Our bodies laid

To rest

Our souls ascend

Your heart put to the test

Final questions

You will answer

As you face you judgement day

In that moment

At that hour

What is it

You will say?

Were you to afraid

To laugh

To afraid to love

Did you let your voice

be heard

When it mattered

Most of all

Do you try your best

Or play it safe

Or live your life

Playing games

What will your questions be

What will you say

When you stand before

Your Maker

On Judgement Day
