Night time Switch

Night time Switch

A Poem by Ursula Kay Vos

Theres a b***h in my mirror

I've perfected her well

I bring her out in the morning

Ringing like a school bell

She's there for my sanity

A little laugh too

I like the b***h in the mirror

Not my fault

She doesn't like you!

She has no time to lie to anyone

She has never cared enough

To spend that time concocting a lie

To save you feelings

She has heard enough

Enough bullshit in her life

Enough lies to know

Even if she did lie

The truth one day would show

So she spews honesty

like pointed arrows

straight through your heart

Through your bones right into the marrow

She's no time for tact

As I've said

She finds humor in this

In her own tortured head

To watch your grimace

As she out-witts you all

Spewing venom and truth

Intelligence with balls

No point in arguement

Shes cut you with fact

And if you retaliate

She will only stab you right back

You see she is used to words unkind

And people untrue

Your words mean nothing

There is nothing you can do

She feels no remorse

This was not her first recourse

But you didnt take a hint

So she cut you to your core

Dont be fooled by her pretty smile

Or that sexy sway

Behind those bedroom eyes

Is a brain that yours will not out-weigh

If she were not aware

If she were not alert

Had she never shed her past

Her battle never won

Then you may still be a man

Standing here today

On what now must feel

like a dance floor

Empty and cleared away

Spot light is on you

For all to see

Gods gift to women?!

More like you shat  from a donkey

Yes I realize your a man

I realize this is a club

You say that since Im dressed well

I should be giving it up

Using your logic

If that were true

Then I guess that mean

Your here for me to emabaress you!

I've no time for your chavaunism

Or to raise you right

You see I only came here with my girls

To have a good time

To have fun tonight

Say what you will

Call any name you please

At the end of the night

It wont be me

Down on my knees

Despite what you thought

Or what you may say

I know who I am

And I dont change day to day

You see I dont have time to lie

Your not worth the time

And those who are

Well thats never an option

When their trust is mine.

I am the same in the day

As I am in the night

I dont need to lie

And your not worth a fight

Author's Note

Ursula Kay Vos
I wrote this as a portrayal of the consistent double standard that our society shows to women. Men are some say "Gods gift" while women who reject them are a bitch. And if she chooses to dress up and go out well then she must be a lesbian. No, she just likes the clothes, the way they make her feel, and she likes wearing them on a fun night out with the girls because when she does go home to meet up with her man, it its magic! I am that type of woman, I do not seek or need a mans approval, and when I go out my skirt does not show my bottom and my chest isn't falling out, but men see a well dressed confident woman who isn't sloppy drunk buying her own drinks and having fun and they simply do not take no for an answer. So yeah, I treat them pretty badly when they cross the line.

I like this b***h. She's got guts and style. What's more, doesn't need me to tell her. But the poem. It's great. Full on, in your face and direct. The ty[eset matches the words perfectly. And the words... the language is real, but so carefully phrased you could think it was a rant. F****** great work. And damn it, after this, I'll buy you a drink one day if you'll buy me one back.
