A Poem by UrbanHermit

I met an ageless merchant
a seller of wondrous things
he wore a turban with a ruby
he had azure feathered wings
he kept a purple tent
in darkest greenest woods
an on top a golden table
is where he shows his goods
i bought from him an ego
to replace the one i had
he proposed a kind of trade
of which we both were glad
alas the one he sold me
was wild and untamed
i had to keep my guard up
to keep from getting maimed
i resolved to find the merchant
and bring his ego back
i expected i'd be chastised
for my characters lack
this must be a cosmic test
of which i was sure i'd failed
and if i had more wisdom
i probably would have bailed
but joy on top of joys
what was this i find
MY ego had the merchant
in a similar sort of bind
it seemed my simple foolish way
fought on so that i would not pay
and for my part id given my ego up
but he was a loyal strong and friendly pup
the merchant begged me to take it back
he even offered a gold filled sack
and really how could i say no
to the ego i'd treated low
i even kept the other ego for free
and now my old one has a friend in me
