To Mother

To my mother.

It's been a while

Since I said I love you

And that I'm sorry too

For all the pain

And heartbreak I've put you through,

But you know I love you,

And I always will.

You're my mother,

And you always will--

Be.

So, I'm a little tough

And hard to deal with.

Life's been kind of rough,

And I haven't made it easy,

(Definitely not much)

But you know I'm sorry,

And I hope you'll forgive me.

I'm just complicated.

But I get it from you, as you can--

See.

Now, I don't say it enough,

But I wish I did.

Mother,

I love you.

I just say it in my head.

Please forgive me,

And hold this poem dear

Because it makes up

For all the times

I should have been there.
