Not AnotherA Poem by UponTheBrinkI will not be another.Today, I took a step in front of the other, Set my eyes unto the ground. I was just another King lost under his crown. I set out on that hardened road With my fists clenched and passion burning my eyes. I could feel the stone beneath my toes As I walked a passerby. And I looked up to the sky, Saw the sun on the horizon. The path I'd walked for so very long was before me, Leading me to the past. I turned around, I turned around, I turned around, And took a step in front of the other. I will not be another. Today, I fell to my knees, My vision lost beneath the tears. They stained the ground. I made no sound. My hands, they shook; I reached up so high. Someday, I'll see clearly As a passerby. And I looked up to the sky, Saw the sun on the horizon. The path I'd walked for so very long was before me, Leading me to the past. I turned around, I turned around, I turned around, And took a step in front of the other. I will not be another. Today, I wanted to run away-- Get lost among the crowds-- Become some nobody from some nothing of a town. I started out the door, Was prepared to make my leave, But I took a second, And I thought to myself, Then suddenly... I looked up to the sky, Saw the sun on the horizon. The path I'd walked for so very long was before me, Leading me to the past. I turned around, I turned around, I turned around, And took a step in front of the other. I will not be another.
