Heart Cuts

Heart Cuts

A Poem by Owl's Wing

Heart cuts, deep into my bloodstream

Falling tears, washing away the stains

False words, promises never kept

Oh, my heart, how it hurts.

You fed me these fake things

And led me to believe them completely

But once you left and ripped out the stitches,

My heart cuts reopened and bled out.

Every word, another scar

Every laugh, a slap in my face

Don't mock what you don't understand, they say

Follow your dreams, and those funny to-do facts

I guess no one told my heart that.

My heart cuts burn with the acid

You pour over them each day

That you're not with me, not mine

I'm just sorry for the next heart you rip open.
