What did I do to deserve you?A Poem by UnwelcomeguestA poem for mother's day.
A saint could toil a hundred years
To raise one sinner from their sea of tears And a soldier fight a million wars To give a broken people laws These greats, who die, to just preserve Us many who do not deserve Work endlessly in pain and blight For a place where eyes are used for sight Not weeping at the children's grave Or screwed up tight so as not to see The people that we wouldn't save And for this, what is it they receive From us? Nothing but their right to greive But I've done nought in this harsh life to save my fellow man from strife And so I ask, at fate's suggestion For an answer to my question What did I do, in all this time, what did I do? In order to have deserved you. © 2010 UnwelcomeguestAuthor's Note
