Steps.

Steps.

A Poem by Paige Dellaway
"

Inspired by Lisbeth Salander in, 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and her planning of revenge. This is my take on revenge from the perspective of someone abused.

"
One step
two step
three step
four
I can
see you
at your
door

Five step
six step
seven
eight
I am
standing
at your
gate

One wave
two wave
three wave
more
you are
smirking
at your
w***e

Nine step
ten step
eleven
twelve
into
my life
you have
delved

Thirteen
fourteen
one more step;
I am
reaching
for your
neck

One thump
Two thump
then no more;
you have
fallen
to the
floor

One breath
two breath
then a third
I hope
that no-one
here has
heard

Four breath
Five brea--

I can't go on
my hands are shaking
my heart is racing
bile is in my throat
and your eyes
your cold eyes
empty and
soulless
are open
and stare in
triumphant
victory
for you
still own me
and my
life

The lack of correct grammar is intentional; it's (supposed) to show the character's lack of coherent thought. Thank you for taking the time to read!
