Russian RouletteA Poem by SilentAuthor
Take the seat in front of me
Leave your fear at the door Place the money on the table Your confidence I implore Your darkened gaze is just like mine Your face expressionless Your palms press dryly on the table The severity of this I can not stress The crowd around us gathers The cheers are growing loud The bets are being finalised The end will soon be vowed You take your gaze away from mine And you look around the room You watch the crowd grow anxious Waiting our inevitable doom Upon the table a box is placed Inside, our metal death As the box is opened We can't help but hold our breath I notice your hands start to tremble Fear you subtly show Sweat is showing on your skin Your emotions no longer hollow The two of us chose to play this game To partake in the deathly duet We have accepted to be a part of The game of Russian Roulette A polished revolver reflects the light And the crowd emanates a gasp Before they all go silent As the handle you reach to grasp As you load the silver bullet I glance to the crowd to see The one I always dream about The woman who set me free The beauty of my heart and soul The reason of which I breathe I wish she hadn't followed me This she shouldn't see Back to you my gaze resides As the single bullet spins You look to the revolver in your hand And I see you slightly cringe You're not as strong as what you started You are having second thoughts Showing you are the smarter one As you start to become distraught I glance again towards my love Whose hands sit at her heart She begged me not to leave the home She pleaded for me not to depart I asked her not to follow me I told her I'd be back She didn't need to know these actions She needed to keep her heart intact The lights grow dim, the crowd grows silent You are the first to test your fate To your temple the revolver sits You have lost your chance to escape The count of three and the trigger is pulled As every breath is held Your eyes you open slowly Your relief is unparalleled You drop the revolver on the table And sigh with deep relief Death you luckily cheated Everyone is grateful of this disbelief Another glance to my love And I see the tears in her eyes I feel the dread wash over me I know this decision was unwise My fingers wrap around the handle And bring the revolver near The only thing I hear is my breathing heart The only thing I see is my dear I take a breath and again a glance As the room goes silent I see her cover her face with her hands Her tears make her eyes become vibrant I wish my love would look away Please just turn away from me Leave this room, just walk away This she won't want to see The silver barrel sits upon my temple The thought is truly bitter A final glance to my love Then I pull the trigger © 2014 SilentAuthor |
