Chapter 1: New GirlA Chapter by Unlucky13thBunnyIn the midst of all the commotion out on the streets in the
dark at night, there was a red door that were noticed by some and others passed
by, staring downwards onto the stone pavement. Those who noticed this door, a
place of games and trickery awaited them. It may be a place of fortune where
the tables turn ever so often. It all depends on who you are when you take your
first step inside.
The red door swung open, letting a tall boy and the wind rush
inside the building. The building was a bar, and a casino in the basement. “How’s it going Cian?” As the boy, whose name was Cian walked
towards the bar, passing a table, a customer greeted him casually. Cian smiled
back at him before reaching out and catching a black vest thrown by his fellow
worker who smiled at him cheekily. His nametag pinned on that read, ‘Cian
Frost’ was there for him to read on the vest. “Hey Cian!” His fellow worker gestured him to put it on. Cian
unzipped his white jacket and put on the vest on top of his white collar
shirt. “Hello Lein.” He replied in his usual monotone voice as
putting his jacket away inside the “I’m totally beat....” Lein yawned loudly, signalling that it
was Cian shift now. “Here, I’ll take over now.” Just then, the bell on the door
jingled and a young looking girl stepped inside, readjusting her bun that was
messed up from the strong wind. She timidly walked over to the bar, and greeted
Lein shyly. “H-hello…” She fidgeted a bit, looking down at the wine red
and black carpet. “Are you the new girl?” Lein asked curiously as Cian served a
customer. “Ah… yes… nice to meet you. I’m Seri... Seri Lakel. You are
Lein, right?” What Cian had heard from the side, the girl was Seri Lakel and
was 16. ‘Same age as me…’ He continued to pick up information while
paying attention to the customers that came streaming inside. “Today’s busy… so should I help for a bit longer?” Lein offered,
worried that Cian would have too much things to do in the bar. The casino would
become packed, but there was plenty of dealers, mostly girls. “Its fine, I’ll somehow get through. Anyway don’t you have a meeting
today?” Cian asked, not wanting to interrupt his schedule. "Well then..." He waved lightly before exiting. "Hey, new girl!" He yelled at Seri, who was cleaning up a cup. The roughness in his voice startled her and dropped the glass cup, which broke into tiny pieces with a loud clash. "Don't touch tha-" His warning was cut off by the ear piercing scream by Seri. He grabbed Seri's wounded hand and removed the tiny piece of glass that cut through her porcelain skin. He proceeded to put on a bandage from his pocket and cleaned up the remains of the clear glass. "Thank you..." She smiled at Cian. "No need." He proceeded to dispose the glass carefully, just in case in fell onto the ground. "Can't even take care of herself. Useless." The words were said so quietly but they managed to reach Seri's ears. "You a*****e!" Before he knew what hit him, her hands flew onto his cheeks. Cian clutched his red cheeks that "Hey guys, I forgot someth-" Seri turned around and there stood Lein, his mouth wide open, hanging down. © 2014 Unlucky13thBunnyAuthor's Note
