The Day I lost Myself

The Day I lost Myself

A Poem by Unloved_kitty

I remember every word,
That you said to me,
I remember every smile,
That you gave.

Our first kiss was so innocent,
It was the sweetest thing ever,
The way you held me,
Like I was the most fragile thing,
In this cruel cold world,
You protected me from everything,
But yourself.

If I could turn back time,
I would've made sure I didn't fall in love,
Cause a broken heart,
Is not what I want,
My smile is gone forever.

The day you said goodbye,
Was the day I lost myself.

A very sad, but very well written poem. I think a great deal of people can relate to this. The word choice in this was excellent. Gave a really good sense of someone loving someone else a great deal and having them break that person's heart.

"you protected me from everything but yourself." Very heartfelt.

I would try and reign in the comma usage a bit. I found myelf having to ignore them in order to really feel a flow. That said, it was a lovely read.
