But Why?

But Why?

A Poem by Serena Kaye
"

Never knowing the real truth.

"

I break you so much,

Disappoint you every second of every minute,

I can’t stay happy,

Therefore I can’t keep you happy,

I try,

But why do I?

I’m here to hold you,

Here to love you

Here to care for you,

Here to be with you,

So I do,

But why does it feel like you don’t?

You say you love me,

You say you want to be with me,

You say you need me,

You say you want to hold me,

So I fall and let you,

But why does it feel like you don’t?

I fell,

You fell,

I Love You,

You Love Me,

Oh how we do,

But why does it feel like you could care less?

You’re not happy,

You’re not in love,

You don’t want me,

You can get better,

I know it’s true,

But why do you stay?

Stay for the fights?

Stay for the time?

Stay for being able to see someone?

Stay to get away?

I ask theses to myself for reasons why you stay,

But tell me why do you want to stay?

It must be love,

It must be me,

It must be that you can be happy,

It must be life,

Maybe so,

But why must it be me?

There are more,

There are better,

To make you happy,

To love you like you should be,

You surely know this,

But why not them?

Wow.. Left me speechless to how much I feel I can relate to this. I love the second to the last stanza, that seemed to amaze me the most about this poem. It expresses a lot of the emotions and thoughts you seem to ponder; rendering this a really deeply thought out poem. Great job!
