How Many

How Many

A Poem by Justin Flume

If that’s what you want

Then split me into atoms

Show my demons to the world

How many scars can one man’s soul take?

Later on you can point and laugh

Yeah later on you can kick and scream

At all the rest of our dismembered world

How many times can one man’s heart break?

Stopping myself before the bullets hit

Cut my throat to make the blood flow

Just to meet the real me

How many hours can one man’s mind ache?

It feels empty and hollow

Shooting my skull just to get the thoughts out

It feels dead and gone

How many lives can one man’s heart forsake?

Fading into oblivion as some homeless guy pisses on my grave

Not this time though

Feeling the hate coming from the deepest parts of my pitch black bowels

How many people can one man slaughter in his mind in an hour?

Just about everyone

How much pain and suffering can one man live through?

Less that I

The test of one's endurance may lie in many things but very often these are over the lifetime of the individual. Seldom does it storm through a young man's life who is probably seeking to create some real achievement. But whenever it does, it always leaves behind a reward of just value.

I have learn we have great limits. I have done crazy things and survived. I saw men and woman do amazing things that seem impossible to accomplish. Our limit is what we get tested with. Men do amazing things when having no choice. I like your poem. Asked good questions. Man can kill, love and be kind. And be able to live them all. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
