What We Found

What We Found

A Poem by Kaia

The girl with fire in her eyes

From the feeling of burning her parents gave her

She was

The warrior

The boy with ice in his veins

From the freezing cold of a lost family

He was

The drifter

The girl with knives in her thoughts

From the battles she’d had to win before she was old enough to swim

She was

The soldier

The boy with a world of imagination

From every memory he could have made better

He was

The dreamer

The dream helped find the salvation in the soldier

The soldier found the truth in the warrior

The warrior formed a home for the drifter

And the drifter helped find a reality for the dreamer

The dreamer was childish but mature

The soldier was a faulty machine off the factory line

The warrior was living in a world without peace

The drifter had no one to call family

But they found a family in each other

They found a way to beat the odds

They found a way to make home a word they could all use

Are you a drifter?

A warrior?

A soldier?

Or are you a dreamer?

Does it even matter if you refuse to get up and find out?
