Girl With Fire

Girl With Fire

A Poem by Kaia

There was a fire in her eyes

A fire that did not burn those who spoke the truth

Or even those who's lips were foaming at each lie

It froze its victims

With each glare,

With each threatening stare

Maybe the fire wasn't ideal

Maybe it wasn't wanted in a woman

But she was a warrior from the start,

With a knife in her hands and a retort on her tongue

Things changed when we were teenagers

She wasn't a warrior anymore;

She was a temptress,

A femme fatale who never failed

She could have whatever she wanted with a swing of her hips and a smirk on her lips

But the fire in her eyes never died

Not that night on the roof

When she wanted to just fall off

Not when I was off

And she had nothing to hold on to

I was her saving grace

But maybe she didn't want to be saved

The fire in her eyes filled her mind

And suddenly I was only in the background of a past that scorned her

She was my poison

A drug that I told myself I wasn't going to get addicted too

Somewhere in my mind I knew that was impossible

She was irresistible

But she should've come with a warning label

Something to tell me that she was a package of heartbreak and pain

With pleasure that came only in the worst of ways

There was no end to the madness of her mind

And maybe she gave me some of her insanity, too...

Why else am I still waiting for the girl with fire in her eyes that I remember?

Very heartfelt and a nice description of the journey as well. I like the warning label line!
