Red DesolationA Poem by UniversalSeanA short story/poem I thought of to express the moment of realizing true desolation. My heart, pounding strong with more life than ever As we happily ran together through the never ending field full of utmost beauty and a single red rose. An unusual vibe felt within the air led me to yield however And she was brave, or perhaps confused. A cold breeze blew from the dark forest along side And she became more drawn to it than ever before. My heart, slowing... As I watched for her safety. She progresses towards the trees unsure But with ease. Yet there it was, The oddity of the air we breathed revealed by a black beast from the forest. Surely our two young hearts and eight legs combined would flee us from the sight of the beast As the never ending field was our only vision. But somehow she remained drawn to this dark forest, for it was always lurking. She stepped slowly into the shadows of the trees until she was completely engulfed. It then became too late, the realization of being unable to save her. The simple moment swept me away and the beast took her life. Or was it mine? My mind, no longer able. My Lungs, unwilling to breathe. My body, trembling. The wind strong enough now to blow away a single red rose And it was then the beast's teeth sunk into her heart. My heart, defeated; covered in streaks of red petals. © 2013 UniversalSean |
