Worker Bee

Worker Bee

A Poem by Juliet
"

For someone.

"
Conformist worker bee, keep on
Feeding on the honey provided
By the queen,
The mothership,
Big brother at his finest.

You'll never know the taste
Of true honey until you break
Free of these
Chains of conformity,
Dancing out signals.

Don't let your hive be filled with
The nectar of liquid lies, don't
Let them fill you with
Anything.
Fill yourself.

That isn't honey.
It's poison and
You've not got long
Until you've no hope, until
You choke.

Fly free and escape the hive.
Fly free and escape the jive.
Fly away from all the lies.
The queen will not worry,
Forget your goodbyes.

Reminds me of the haiku from fightclub, but i like the way this piece is shrouded in the imagry of a hive. Brilliantly written and pieced together. And the rhymescheme on the final stanza gave it the added punch to drive the ending home. I realled liked the line 'Dont let your hive be filled with the nectar of liquid lies' It seems to echo in the back of the mind...

We all seem to be the worker bees from time to time. This was a good write and I find it inspiring as I move toward a goal I have set my eyes on.
