Lost

Lost

A Poem by Tigran Avoundjian
"

two parter spoken word -- debuted (sort of) 2/16/08 @ The Roxy with Valley Circle

"

Pull the curtains back, open your eyes

And witness the blackness of this heart of mine

We’ve journeyed across the desert sands

Through urban sprawls of outstretched hands

And now we must join together for the promise land

We must join together for the promise land

For oblivion is waiting in the wings

With fangs bared, venom dripping from its flaming limbs

Obliterating continuums of space and time

Dismantling with lasers shot from his eyes

Raise your fists and steal the sky

Raise your fists and steal the sky

And scream --

For peace.

sublime

surreal

superimposed hands of Gods

The light’s been snuffed out

And the windowsill’s abandoned

Little Sally has gone away

Leaving her Prince Charming empty handed

This is no fairy tale

There is no happy ending.

When war is peace,

And peace is war

When love is hate

And hate is what we fight for

Then the dogs of doom howl at the gates

And the Headless Horseman mounts his nightmare

Unleashing the wrath of flaming swords

We’ve lost the gifts Little Eden set before

Our feet with humble servitude

We’ve lost the seeds we should have sown

Left verdant lands barren and cold

We’ve lost the fields of green

And the skies of blue

Lost all Louis sang about

The red roses too

Through our thirst for creation

In our haste for salvation

We’ve destroyed

The divine

The infinite

The heavenly

And all that made us gold.

Unrealistic ideals aside, a good poem. This poem is lyrical enough I could hear the music behind it. Well written.

great job!! a different piece for me to like, and yet i really really liked it!

"Raise your fists and steal the sky
Raise your fists and steal the sky
And scream --
For peace."

what fantastic lines right there.

"When war is peace,
And peace is war
When love is hate
And hate is what we fight for"

This part really shocked me, because i thought it might be trite, but then you totally rocked it with that last line, the rhyme scheme was perfect; it was like a punch in the gut :)

great job !

hugs
