Down the River

Down the River

A Poem by Tigran Avoundjian
"

old...restoring old writings

"

the devil's got my woman
yea he's got her by the horns
so i loaded up my shotgun
and i kicked in his door

said "i'm not a fighter im a lover
and i've never killed a man
but a woman's touch and a jealous mind
can turn a saint into the damned"

So I'll go

Down down

To the river

Ain't got no money

Got a head full of fire

And the heart of a sinner

Baby

I emptied out both barrels
and i filled his heart with lead
then i tore out his bleeding heart
to make sure he was dead

my woman she was petrified
she shook and cried and said
"the one i love just sold his soul
and my lover's dying in my bed"

Let's go

Down down
To the river
Ain't got no money
Got a head full of fire
And the heart of a sinner
Baby

I wade in the waters
But the waters turn to sand
Wash my hands in the river
But the blood still stains my hands

I sold my soul for a woman
But she doesn't seem to care
Now the devil's got me shackled
And my demons follow everywhere

I stare into the mirror
But can't see my reflection
My heart's painted black
And my veins are filled with poison

And I'm going

Down down
To the river
Ain't got no money
Got a head full of fire
And the heart of a sinner
Baby

I wade in the waters
But the waters turn to sand
Wash my face in the river
But the blood still stains my hands
