A Pageant of Devils.
(V-I) A pageant of devils, held behind the crimson cloth… They revel -- Adorned in mask and frock -- The scent of sweet liquors, a waft! They dance their dance of fancy-hen, marionette and harlequin… Calling down the midnight sky, the devils, their concubines and I! Below papier-mâché moons and constellations without whimsical handles… The grand gramophone bleats, as flicker do their black-waxen candles! Their spry shadows at play upon the candied walls… Frolicking, oh so jovially, whilst papered stars fall! (PRE) A prerequisite delirium… For an eve most Shakespearian! Wilst thou, an eval, withstand, there upon Hell’s tumultuous multilevel? The feast of beasts -- A dinner to devils! (CH) A pageant of devils, huzzah, huzzah! (BRIDGE) The devils are so cute in their red unitards… Partaking in rituals most advant-garde! Damned AND pretentious, they’ve even a guild! Arguing in abyssal over who was first billed! (REPEAT CH) (V-II) Croon dost the crooner, the devils enchant… With their choreographies, splendid, and their backdrops, Rembrandt! What the audience doesn’t know is that they’ll soon be part of the show… The black stage awaits in the hell-pit below! (PRE) The tickets were cheap… For a front row seat! Wilst thou, an eval, withstand, there upon Hell’s tumultuous multilevel? The feast of beasts -- A dinner to devils! (REPEAT CH) (END BRIDGE) Give the devils their due, a pound of flesh… A night at the theatre where the two drink minimum included death! The program lists players, whom haven’t names… They’ll be buried accordingly in unmarked graves! © 2011 Uncle Spook |
