A Long Journey After A Little One

A Long Journey After A Little One

A Poem by Maria F. Rojas
"

Based on a true event in my life. I am a single mom of my daughter. Her dad and I build a great friendship from bizzare situations. I wrote this for "The Day I tried to Live" Contest.

"

The day I tried to live

After I met you.

Then my heart flew

Over 100 mph

Per hour.

The day I tried to live

After our first kiss

Then this moment

Last a lifetime.

The day I tried to live

After many months

Of thoughts

Only for you

Then so was

My love.

The day I tried to live

After you proposed

Our relationship to

The next step

Then my life

Created another life

Ahead.

The day I tried to live

After how beautiful

Things went

Then I fell apart

In a million of

Pieces.

The day I tried to live

After everyday of my tears

Then so were my prayers.

The day I tried to live

After I looked at you

Then you just didn’t

know yet.

The day I tried to live

After having our little one

That grew inside me

Then you just

Didn’t realize yet.

The day I tried to live

After I became big

With miles of my hair

Then you became far

From two hearts of us.

The day I tried to live

After my prayers

I kept them tight

Then you could

Come around.

The day I tried to live

After our little one

Came to this world

Then your eyes

Were locked on

Your daughter.

The day I tried to live

After I looked into

Her eyes

Then her eyes remind

Me of yours.

The day I tried to live

After seven years ago

You broke my heart

unbelievably

Then you took

My heart with pieces

Glued up back together

Slowly.

The day I tried to live

After I forgave you

For leaving me lifeless

Then I could breathe.

The day I tried to live

After a long journey

I still live for today

Because you both are

The reasons that

Keeps me breathing

After the day I tried to live.

Such sorrow to be replaced with a journey of recovery and a new life........
Nothing heals as much as a new life, and a bond created between two people regardless of the pain they caused each other.

A beautiful poem of sadness and love. Children can make the bad days seem less with their smile and gifts of hope. I like the movement of the words. The story unfolded slow and easy. A excellent poem.

I love the poem. It is so difficult to live- so unpredictable but despite all of the circumstances love is still standing strong...

I liked this piece for the feeling that it expressed- One heck of a bumpy rollercoaster relationship journey that ended on a uplifting note - that was put to pen- Some typos , rhythm bumps and extraneous word choices which are easily corrected . Overall a piece that tugs at your heart-

not bad, you could revise the line breaks into fuller sentences and eliminate some of the filler words for a less rocky feeling, and smoother transitions, the messege is nice, its a lil bumpy, but has sentimental effect
thanks for sharing your talent
