Silence MeA Poem by Maria F. RojasArrived to this world
Met the strangers
Mom? Dad?
Strangers were my parents
Grew up by day by day
By time by time I never understood
why were everything so silent?
I was forced to wear the hearing aides
and the nosies were welcomed
into my ears
into my brain
What are those nosies?
A stranger came into my poor home
waved with the flying hands
I understood nothing
but heard the strange voices
came from the moving mouth
From what I saw
From what I heard
From what I felt
was the voice
that spoke
Hello you, what a little girl!
I, of course, stared
and smiled like I could understand
From there
I learned how to fly my hands
I learned how to express my emotions
I learned how to speak
Not that easy but yet I still lived silently
Felt like I was the only silence me
Everyone laughed, and shared theirs to each other
Nosies made by everywhere
I could not catch up all at once
But I could choose what I wanted to hear
with my little best friends
that were my hearing aides
Time passed by
Year passed by
Age passed by
By how I live my silently life
made me who I am today
is that
I am deaf
living a silent world
Silence Me
