The Eagle and the Pigeon

The Eagle and the Pigeon

A Poem by Colt 45 & 9/16
"

The Eagle is thought to be a majestic animal that most would envision themselves as being. However one really looks at one's own personal qualities would it resemble the eagle or something else??

"

I AM THE EAGLE. A SYMBOL TO NATIONS, EMBROILDED ON FLAGS, INSIGINAS, AND CRESTS

FOR I AM THE OSPREY, OSPREY MOST TENACIOUS. MANY ARE LIKE ME BUT I AM THE BEST

BUT THE PIGEON HE MOCKS ME AND LABELS ME “DUMB”

YET, BE NOT I HARASSING VAGRANTS FOR CRUMBS!

I COULD TEAR HIM APART IN GNASHING TALONS AND GORE

DESTROY WHOLE FAMILIES BUT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MORE.

Oh Eagle, old boy when will you see

You don’t have to be strong. You can just be like me

Oh your “Kingdom of Sky”. Sweet terrain which you roam.

As they destroy your kingdom they remodel my home.

I know how high you can fly. That I understand

Do it what good to you if nowhere to land??

Though long after you are gone, You'll still have many a statue

But I'll still be around, Sooooo that's where I'll pooh!!

I like the comparing of the two birds. Here in Michigan. Using large hawks to fix the pigeon problems in the cities. Pigeons still surviving and dropping gifts from the sky. Thank you for the entertaining poem. I like your style of writing. A Mark Twain way view of life.

This is pretty cool. I never looked at it that way before. The pigeon is right, of course . . . but given the choice, I'd rather be an eagle

this speaks about pride and humility to me.
someone else could argue it's about americas boastful aspirations
or even each persons bombastic ego, american or not.
but for me: pride vs meekness.
nice parable, by the way.

I'm afraid I'm too dense (asleep) to figure out the meaning. It's probably not about a throw rug shaped like a bird; no, I didn't think so; excellent poem, even for those meaning-challenged people!
