Scars in My Hands

Scars in My Hands

A Poem by Katana Hurricania
"

A poem about self-harm. A poem about scars. A poem about hope.

"

 You sit in your closet

And slowly cry yourself to sleep
And I know you’re wondering
How across that bridge you’re gonna leap
Your blade is dull
Still sharp enough to kill
But hold on a minute
The blood sacrifice has already been filled

And I was there for you
Long before you ever knew
And I stand watching you
While you search for the truth
So look at your heart
And ignore Blood’s demand
You don’t need to cut yourself
The scars are already in my side and hands

I see the blood
Forming on your wrists
Take a deep breath and remember
That you’re not alone through this
I bled and bled
Each hungry nail digging in
But your heart was worth it
Just c’mon; the treasure’s yours to win

And I was there for you
Long before you ever knew
And I stand watching you
While you search for the truth
So look at your heart
And ignore Blood’s demand
You don’t need to cut yourself
The scars are already in my side and hands

You’ve cried so long
And no one’s heard you
No one out there understands
But I’ll always be there for you
With open arms I’ll take your hand
Just leave the knife behind
My shoulders will be there when you need to cry
Just come and open your heart wide

And I was there for you
Long before you ever knew
And I stand watching you
While you search for the truth
So look at your heart
And ignore Blood’s demand
You don’t need to cut yourself
The scars are already in my side and hands
Yeah, the scars are already in my side and hands.

Author's Note

Katana Hurricania
I was 13 when I wrote this and hadn't been writing poetry for long... however, since it is lyrical, I have considered coming up with a tune, so criticisms on the rhythm would be appreciated in case I want to actually make it into a song one day.

I have improved a lot technically since writing this. However, the message is one close to my heart. Self-harm is an addiction that a lot of people struggle with, and I was falling into it. Jesus is too awesome to let me do it -- I wrote this to remind myself of His grace and mercy. He is too much of a Savior to let me hurt myself any more than I did a few years ago.

i like this, when i was 13 i was writing veryyyy similar stuff to this

and from a musical standpoint (im a musician, and consider myself to be pretty good), it has a nice flow and rhythm, with only a few breaks i caught while reading; but i could make them flow by just saying it differently
