As the evening breaks its amber silk An angel's untouched wings Are ripped from her skin She hands them to a demon A white smile ripping apart her beauty
"Take them, and fly."
The demon, her heart flooded Locks the wings in a chest and turns away Leaving the keepsake to rot Her fate is laying away to be destroyed She will never see her worth
"Why was I given life?"
The morning ghosts whisper into her ears Telling her of dreams from the past That have spoken the truth She knows the demon's bruises and cuts Will be healed in the end
"You are not a mistake."
She abuses the gifts she pretends to have And lays her creations to die In the recesses of a doomed imagination A life worth nothing but dirt A demon bleeds herself away
"I am in Hell, where I belong."
The angel watches, her spirit weak Her wrists chained to her mortality Mocking her belief in the demon But still, she believed She smiled at the demon at that moment
"You will see the truth."
As the demon's soul was stripped bare Her eyes pooled with burning tears And she ripped herself apart Her own hands covered in her blood A deformed monster at her end
"What is the truth?"
The angel lifts her head And breaks away from her wingless chains Holding out her hand to the fallen demon And unlocks the chest that has been abandoned To finally bestow to the demon her fate
Often times I've wondered what it would be like to fly. Your poem shows your readers a world where even if you could fly away there will remain problems. So graceful, so beautiful! You better submit this into every contest you can! Mark my word this will win a ton of awards!
I really enjoyed this poem, I generally hate when people mess with the structure of the poem, but I think it worked well and added to the flow of your piece. The imagery in this poem was incredibly vivid, and very well done. Excellent, work!
Wow! I really like this! What usually happens when people mess with structure is something... just unneeded and annoying... but in this, the structure does actually add to it. :D Well done, my friend.
WOW. This a stunning, brilliant piece of work. A masterpiece in itself. I was little worried I would be able to get the full picture with the format but I had no reason to be, it worked and told a great story. Simply amazing.
