UnityA Poem by AnonymousA poem written to be read at a Memorial Day assembly. At the heart of our country, Lay their names in the black stone The promise that set us free, Was tied when their courage shone. They stood and they fought for us, And for that, we give our voice The valiant, brave, and just, Let us stand, join hands; rejoice. As they’ve gained the greatest wealth, Today, their stories are shared. Love your neighbor as yourself, Like these heroes also cared. The tales of these brave soldiers, Our brothers, sisters, neighbors Some younger and some older, An act of selfless labor. With freedom to celebrate, Liberty to speak our minds We realize the death of hate, And press to follow behind. We’re born as a new nation, At their final endeavor Their courage our salvation, We stand united, forever.© 2011 AnonymousAuthor's Note
