I believe we put words on a page...not to impress...but because we have no choice.
the compulsion is in us and it needs to get out.

To be honest, I never look at that page. I never enter contests. I feel that when I go into a "comparison" mode, where I'm pitting myself against other writers, this ruins the spirit of the cafe for me. It changes the way I write, if I pay attention to how "popular" my writing may or may not be. I know that most writers are like you, both interested & also a little bit spoofing the whole idea, too. I'm just saying that I need to insulate myself from this, not becuz it's wrong or bad, but just becuz I'm easily influenced by such stuff & I spent too much time doing life that way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
