If Only

If Only

A Poem by Wanderer

If only I had waited

For the springs to come again

The small signs of hope

I should have noted

If only I had listened

To my inner self

It spoke of the coming times

I should have waited

Now the time has gone

I am stuck here in my present

If only I had believed

In my inner self

Now that nagging feel of guilt

Keeps hurting like a hell

If only I had waited

For the times to change

I live how you talked about time and how you repeated the same two phrases of "If only" and "Now." I like how you talked about time passes by talking about what the events from the pass on to the present day. The first lines really pulled me in. Nice descriptive and interesting title.

If only. Maybe there is an if only but maybe it's much better to take action than think of an what if.

"If only" may be the most useless words in the English language. Learn from mistakes, but don't dwell on them. Move on.
