OakNuts
A Poem by eli mercuree rue
There is this place
in the middle
of the oAK tree
where two roads meet,
shapEd like
two over sized
circles,
prosTate glands
really,
wHere OakNuts
fall magicAlly
into the mouths
of oakdwellers
and cornrobbers
even milkswaggers;
the Tree
doesnt discriminate.

"There is this place
in the middle" - i'm thinking hole in the middle...
"of the oAK tree" - ah, maybe forget the hole; at this point, we're talking a branch jutting out (of an elder...cos oak trees are old and reputed to be wise although it's yet to be proven 'cos i haven't met a talking tree and therefore haven't been subjected to their wisdom) and not about things it may come into contact with...
"where two roads meet,
shapEd like
two over sized
circles,
prosTate glands
really" - i agree with Corrin - balls...unless you're going waaay out of your way to trick us...
"wHere OakNuts
fall magicAlly" - things produced by the branch jutting out (of an elder); acorns in the literal forest...blobs of other stuff with this kind of oAK
"into the mouths
of oakdwellers" - lucky squirrels in that other forrest...what could be the squirrel equivalent here i ask...someone who is actually intended for this oak, like dogs shouldn't climb trees but squirrels can so it's ok, and elder can taste the wisdom of elder, but it's not meant for young 'uns until they become the elders and it begins again
"and cornrobbers" - i'm a city kid...what robs corn...well there are scarecrows to protect the corn, scare the crows why would they scare crows that's not a very nice hobby aha unless the crows rob the corn and crows are birds so maybe these are birds, we have squirrels and birds and in britain a bird is a woman but then we're talking squirrels again in a way unless you want to go toe2toe, mano-e-mano...2 guys, ok maybe but it doesn't feel right to this poem...squirrels need need need the trees but birds can come and go maybe squirrel and tree is like a marriage, so birds are like flings 'cos they have more freedom...
"even milkswaggers" - milk - i got cows but that aint my first thought, it's just my mind going through the animal kingdom trying to gather itself up an ark-full of activity...SOoo first thought is infancy, creature dependent on milk...swaggers...maybe kid but not a baby, still liking the milk...could be misconceived as swaggering when really just trying not to cower...
"the Tree
doesnt discriminate." - great ending, very final and indisputable tone, kind of a conclusion.
F**k lauren i'm trying but i think i missed the board and shot the dart through the eye of a guy leaning on the bar :-/
???
I should come back...
I like it though, by the way.
