About a Person You AdmireA Poem by eli mercuree rueI admire your smile. Each time I see your lips Frame themselves justly so I, as if by some preternatural force, smile. Is it funny To be this ridiculous? For in truth I am only your reflection: As you lift I lift: As you walk I walk: When the sun goes I am replaced by the solace Of home and sheets and pillows And stars and there we connect. We drink and we refill: Dance and scream: Sip and swallow: Eat slowly, quickly, and refill: All the while these eyes watch your Figure unfold and extend into New visions where you dress And take off and bring in new thoughts And simultaneously show nothing but neglect For the past, to you, Is becoming a speck. Your eyes need nourishment By means of fulfillment [I suppose] And of that I will indeed serve you But it will come at a cost- as all progression does. I will serve you in a paper cup To everyone and watch them take you in; All of you as you are Crude and untouched.
