ACT I

ACTORS:

DANIEL……………………………………………Tyson M. Haynes

KRISTIAN………………………………………….Amelia K. Graham

SCENE:  The two main characters are sitting alone in a bedroom. ‘DANIEL’ is parading around the room, tapping a pen to his mouth while observing a small black book held open in his hands, thinking. ‘KRISTIAN’ is sitting placidly with her head bowed down, pen flying swiftly across a sheaf of paper as fresh thoughts bloom in her mind. Presently ‘DANIEL’ turns to ‘KRISTIAN’ and begins to speak.

DANIEL:  (pacing) I’ve come up with this now story idea, right? And right now I’m planning it all out.

KRISTIAN:  (smiles) Okay, honey. What is it about?

DANIEL:                   (pauses, turns to KRISTIAN and smiles cunningly) I can’t tell you, babe. It’ll ruin the whole dang thing. (winks)

KRISTIAN:  (grinning broadly, chuckling) Fine then. Don’t share.

DANIEL:  (teasingly) Little Miss Sarcasm, eh? If that attitude is going to persist, I guess I might as well tell you what it is about.

KRISTIAN: Shoot.

DANIEL:  (sits down beside her) Basically, I’m basing the story off of you, hon.  (smiles)

KRISTIAN:  (blushes) Oh…thanks, I guess. (looks down at her hands, trying not to blush harder)

DANIEL:  (chuckles, then takes hold of her hands in his own) I love it when you blush. You look so cute like that. (kisses her cheek)

KRISTIAN: (looks at DANIEL, smiling)

(They stare into one another’s eyes, are about ready to kiss when DANIEL’S cellular phone vibrates in his pocket.)

DANIEL:  (stands up, picks cell phone out of pocket, looks at the screen, then jumps up) Crap! Sorry, honey, but I have to answer this.

KRISTIAN:  (startled) What? Who is it, baby?

DANIEL:  It’s uh…it’s my editor. (flips open cell phone and begins talking)

KRISTIAN: Editor? (stands up abruptly) You didn’t tell me you had an editor!

DANIEL:  (frustrated) Yeah, well, you do now.

(leaves the room, talking on the cell phone)

KRISTIAN: (follows DANIEL out of the room) Honey, where are you going? And who is that on the phone…(voice fades when KRISTIAN leaves room).

DANIEL:  Kristian! Settle dow----

KRISTIAN: GET OUT!

DANIEL: You know what? Fine, I’m out of here. Sammy, let’s go. (begins to depart)

SAMMY:  What? I’m not going with you anymore, you jerk! (picks up belongings and departs)

DANIEL: (yelling) Sammy, what the hell?

KRISTIAN: Get out, Daniel. It’s over.

DANIEL: But---

KRISTIAN: What the heck have I been saying for the past five minutes, Danny? (speaking slowly) Get….out….now.

DANIEL:  (sighs) Alright fine. I’m leaving. Goodbye, baby. (departs)

KRISTIAN: Good riddance, you b*****d. (sits down in a chair, puts hands over her eyes, and cries miserably).
