Death and Prayer

Death and Prayer

A Poem by Erik A. Harris
"

Wrote for the recent tragedy in Connecticut.

"
Death and Prayer
hand in hand,
procession proceeding
to the beat of the band,
then, slowly, we stand
and weep into our hands,
what is this sadness,
creeping over the land?
Why must this travesty
happen to those who
are as a lamb?
Sacrifices made,
introducing that
melancholy parade,
trailing slowly
behind those who paid
that price . . ..
Death and Prayer
hand in hand,
come to us as we
lay dead to rest,
within the land.

It was a sad day that one. I really think this brings that to realization.
