Awake For Too Long

Awake For Too Long

A Poem by Janna Nicole
"

Self-explanatory.

"
I'm tired.
I should sleep.
For every minute that passes,
my vision progressively gets worse.
Things look blurry.
I can't focus.
My eyelids twitch themselves open,
no matter how much I wish they would shut.
I have nothing to do but lay here.
Awaiting something that's not coming.
My legs ache,
as well as the rest of my body.
I hear voices.
Random noises.
They're amusing,
but a bit frightening.
I know that they can go away.
If I could only get to sleep...

Gee
Nothing worse, and the more we try the less chance of sleep coming. I've counted flocks of sheep, counted to numbers mind numbingly high, all to no avail. Well penned
