The meaning of life

The meaning of life

My point of view on the meaning of life...well..sort of...

"
The following is my POV(sort of) on the meaning of life. This is written mostly out of wanting to write something =). Writing stuff like this helps to destroy writer's block, at least it does for me =). I often do this even when I don't have the block, to keep me in the muse. I apologize if I accidentally offend anyone.

What is the meaning of life? The age old question which made the greatest minds rust. One which cannot be truly answered, as it's different for each person. However, what makes a person choose his meaning of life? In my opinion, there are several factors in how a person chooses his meaning or, more often meanings of life. I shall talk about some of them.

Childhood
How a person is raised affects greatly their meaning of life. In my opinion, parents sometimes give their offspring some of their hobbies, skills and most important, personality. There are other cases. A hard childhood could often leave the child with a  taste on life later in his life. Yet,An easy and spoiled child could often leave him with an expensive taste on life. The child with the spoiled childhood would be given the impression that personal possessions are extremely important. While the other child would be given an impression that personal possessions are not as important. What I speak of are stereotypes, of course, using them as an example. Each person has a different childhood, and my point is to make it clear that a childhood effects the person's view on life greatly.

Genes
Genes. The genes passed down from your parents, your parent's parents, to you. Some believe that personality is not developed, but inherited. Weather a person is nice, mean, friendly, bossy etc does not depend on their environment, but on their genes. Although there is truth to this fact, it is not completely too. Most people change their personality at least once in their lifetime. The environment that is in our habitat greatly effects our personality, yet the genes we are given at birth stay with us forever.

Skills.
Skills? What do I mean? A person's skills and job effect their personality? Y.E.S! Some people say that a person's job depends on their personality, my view is the opposite. That a person's personality depends on their job. Although we can choose any job we want if we work hard enough, their is always one job or skill that is relatively more easy to us then for others. This is because our personality reflects that job. Examples are hard to give, because we have more then one skill. So, one person can be creative and technical, two skills which are often seen as opposites. Yet how can our skill effect our view on life? Let's stick with the same example, a person who is both technical and creative. His technical skills allows him to see how the world physically works. Yet, his creative skill allows him to notice that the nature world works like clockwork, could it be possible another intelligent being or beings have a hand in the nature world? It is a shaky example, I admit, but I hope it brought my point across, that our combination of skills effect our personality.

Religion
Yes, the subject everyone wants to talk about, everyone wants to argue about. Now, for this piece, I shall assume that atheism is a religion. Religion is basically our view on 1. How the world is created. 2. How the world runs. 3. What happens after death. Now, most religions state that after death, the righteous shall be rewarded while the wrong-doers punished. Most religions also state how you should live life to be righteous. So, to make things simple, let's just say that religion states what happens after death. Reaching the afterlife, isn't that a good meaning of life? People who are loyal to their religion often let it guide them in life, or turn to it when they need guidance.
Those are but a few factors of the many many many that effect our life everyday, effect our personality, and so our view on life. Other factors such as friends,education, wealthiness,health,family,friends..etc etc all effect our life
Weather you'd read this entire thing, or simply skimmed through it, or just said "f**k it" and scrolled all the way to the bottom, I'd like for you to remember these words.
Life can only have one meaning,
if we share the same life

Thank you for this very interesting and wonderful post. You know, everyone is different in his own way. I mean, we are all born, but we have different path of life. It's true, and I guess everybody believes that "everyone is unique". Many of us are common in some things, such as religion, likes and dislikes, and etc. But we are still have our own way of life. We often ask ourselves how life would be in the future? All of my life I've gone through ups and downs, just like anyone else. I have learned a lot of things and have realized how wonderful my life is. But then, I sometimes ask, what's really the true of life here in Earth? What's my purpose of living? and Have I done the right things that I should do? Well, there are still lot of things that I need to know for me to understand the true meaning of life.
