Treason

Treason

A Poem by Roger Morrison

Treason

Tyler Dameron

Is it you

That’s been poisoning

My dreams at night?

Filling them with hope

And shining beams of light?

Taking it away upon awakening

You wake up with him

I wake up forsaking

Every thought of you

Reaching out to nothing

Is it you

Who’s been tainting all the music

That I once depended on?

Comfort in the voices gone

Now they just remind me of those eyes

I’ll never look upon

Every day you cry

Is there a reason?

Is it my own foolishness?

Has destiny committed treason?

Or can we blame it

On the ever changing season?

Is it you

Who keeps the shadow in the corner?

Keeps me running steady

I’ll keep on hoping, if you let me

Unless I’ve fucked it up already

I enjoyed it, of course except for the last line. Don't think (in my own opinion) that that language was necessary. But I can respect it as it is from you and your writing preference. Good job.
