In The Attic (Part 1)

In The Attic (Part 1)

A Poem by Tyler Allen

In The Attic (Part 1)

Tyler Allen

An old wooden chest

In the corner of the attic

Clad in a jacket of dust

Or are those the ashes

Of my sanity set to flame?

Inside is a book

Or a hundred…

Or a thousand…

Perhaps the pages are infinite?

None are meant to be read

Written in languages

Born from dimensions forbidden

I never meant to discover

This endless labyrinth of shadows

A voice leads me deeper

A mist moving slowly

Crimson devours

My eyes become pools

Of blindness by blood

In the attic…

I wish I could describe this vile place better
But I hate going in it

If you can see it, you can discribe it...
I'm sure you have much more to say in
this one. Very intriguing...

Very interesting!! I quite like the non-rhyming scheme of it, it suits it well!! the fear of the attic, we all have a place we hate to delve into, whether tangible or incorporeal - favourite lines:

"Born from dimensions forbidden
I never meant to discover
This endless labyrinth of shadows"
