Naturally

Naturally

A Story by Ellie Venice

Well this is my life now. A short one at that. Filled with compromise and feelings of doubt. This isn't who I want to be, much less who I was. But now I see no exit from this new life I've sought. What can I do when feeling bad, when wherever I look the world is looking down. There's not much meant for me so I must work freely, making my own of things and improvising. This world is malicious in its views, criticizing my every stutter. There must be a greener side, but no. Here we are in our lives. This is how we are. As short as life is. Everything we’ve ever sought out is now dust. We’ve lived a billion lives in one, but yet none, naturally. We are always in control except when we’re not. We are always on top of life, except when we are not, naturally. We always see life for itself, except when we do not. We do not exceed expectations unless those expectations aren’t our own. Then we fail to rise to the occasion and do more than what others expect. This is our life. We live how we want, with or without judgement, naturally. Nothing stops us except when things do. We are always one step ahead of life, except when we’re not. We are happy in our lives but not joyful. Few know real joy, but those who do, do not know they know. We all complain, but are grateful. Nothing is unfathomable, except when it is, naturally.
