Life of an EmotionA Poem by Tyler RhinhartTo express how you truly feel is much easier said than done. What exactly is an emotion anyways? And where does it come from? Far too difficult to answer, humanity disguises raw emotion as art.
Encased, locked up, and deep beneath the surface
They disguise themselves as words. Tangled up in sentences, padlocked by punctuation, They've been granted solitary confinement within a verse. To say what so desperately needs to be heard, Is easier said than done, So you have probably heard. War lies ahead of those wishing to freely surf. Born from something before nothing, A compelling journey begins Before emerging into the earth. Battling against critique, and the demoralizing competition, Refutes compatibility with the bleak; Assuming submission, A trait characterized by those, the weak. Beneath the letters they descend, Inky, they curve, twist, and bend. Through the blood of a pen, An inkling adventure of a mystery begins. Longing to be set free, heard, and understood, The readers attention is a mission to apprehend. Slathered in the shadows of ink They sit, they wait, and thrive. Underneath their disguise, they wiggle, scream, and writhe. Dreams of being heard, Accepting a life in the shadows Is common amongst the herd. Awaiting their second birth, A curious mind is their one way ticket Unto this universe. © 2014 Tyler RhinhartAuthor's Note
