Rain

Rain

A Poem by James Mckay

What was this that fell from the sky?
For months our grass and creeks ran dry
But darker clouds were spotted by I
It felt great to see it with my very own eye

What was this that fell on my windshield glass?
First a few droplets and then it fell fast
The first round was quick and it didn't last
But more came then and it slowly passed

What was this that fell onto the Texas dirt?
What was this that even soaked up my shirt?
Hey put all the vegetation on real high alert
Not having it at all was real beginning to hurt

What was this that fell onto the roof of my home?
A much cooler breeze also did come
I can surely tell you where it fell from
I don't want to be greedy but we need more not some

Thank the Lord above for we surely needed it
Trust me, you will not hear me once, complain
If given the chance, I'll do that silly dance
Especially when the heaven's open up and give us RAIN!
