I Say Do It

I Say Do It

A Poem by James Mckay

If you see a creek, river, or lake
And the sun has been boiling down
Passing it by would be a mistake
You best stop and stand on it's ground
You know you want to cool off
You'll be wet the least little bit
If you have second thoughts about jumpin' in
I say do it

If you see a nice size puddle
And you want to rid some of your woes
Then go ahead and kick your shoes off
And get that mud between your toes
You know it already feels good
It won't be an awkward moment
I say don't think about it
I say do it

If you see a field of flowers
Surrounded by soft, sweet grass
I don't think it should be ignored
It isn't something you wanna pass
It is time to get bare-footed
Hop the fence if you're use to it
You can walk, sprint, or run
But I say do it

If you feel a charming melody
And it makes you move in a way
It moves your body from side to side
As you hear each of the chords play
It lifts your eyes and your head
You don't want it to quit
If you feel like dancing
I say do it

I say do whatever makes you happy
I say write whatever you want to write
I say love who you feel you're meant to love
And everything else will be all right

If there's no one to help pull you through it
I say do it
