Photo AlbumA Poem by James Mckay
I found my mother's old wooden trunk
Uncertain of the treasures I would find Dad think she stored nothing but junk But sentimentally it was from our time There were several old wool blankets And other nostalgic pieces at random Our baby clothes and birth certificate And then I discovered the photo albums There my folks were in black and white Both of them looked so dressed and ready Dad's hair slicked back, mom's dress so tight Standing there next to his 1965 Chevy Ten years later there they were, married They looked so happy and so much in love And inside her belly, a little me she carried Who was obviously a miracle from God above Look at all the birthdays that us kids had Look at all the hairstyles and clothing back then They are still happy in them, my mom and dad Not so much now but I miss way back when It was so great seeing how close family was I saw so many cousins and so much of my kin Now were lucky if we get together now, because It seems we've grown apart from those times then Most days funerals are the only time we're together The family reunions died along with our patriarchs Times have changed and they were also better It was back when we loved each other with our hearts From the clothes to the cars to the furniture Those old Kodak's captured memories you can't fathom These were our homemade movies for sure As we flipped through our old photo albums. by: James W.
